EXT. PORCH - NIGHT
ADRIEN and LEE sit. Smoking a joint. Rachel Maddow can be heard on the television inside. A pepper plant, meager and lifeless, sits on the porch ledge.
ADRIEN
Sometimes I watch that plant. It’s a hot pepper or some shit... I just watch this... skeleton. Wait for it to sprout. It should be sprouting.
I’ll wake up and sometimes it’s the first thing I think of doing. Going over. Looking at this this thing. Grow. Grow. What the fuck are you doing? Grow.
I think I might be killing it. I think my actual attention on it might be killing it. Like a dog who can’t piss when you’re looking at it. Or like me. I can’t piss when there’s someone right next to me...

FRANK comes out on the porch. LEE quickly tries to hide the joint with lungs FULL of smoke.

INT. HOUSE - NIGHT
ADRIEN and FRANK play ping pong.
ADRIEN

EXT. COFFE SHOP - DAY
ADRIEN and MAY sit on a curb off the backdoor of the coffee shop. She’s on a break.
MAY
Room temperature water is better for you.
ADRIEN

MAY

I like to drink water while I'm peeing and imagine that it's going straight through me, top to bottom. Like I have no insides.
ADRIEN
